Description
Crickett is a 2021 QH cross, standing just over 15.1 HH. With only 1/8 draft in him, he is the perfect horse for the whole family.
Crickett is stunning! As a palomino with a beautiful, long, flowing mane, he steals the show wherever he goes. And it’s not just his looks that surprise, his mind is incredible. At only five years old, he already has an impressive résumé.
Crickett is responsive to your leg and carries himself nicely with a consistent, supple head carriage. He has lots of go when you ask for it, but will stop as soon as you stop riding. He performs side passes, leg yields, haunches-in, shoulder-in, half-passes, flying lead changes, and has a big stop. You can open and close gates on Crickett in the mountains or in your yard at home on the ranch.
He has been to the mountains on four different multi-day trips and has been the best mountain horse you could ask for. He is very polite about the rider’s leg around trees and obstacles. He is happy to be in the front or the back, he truly doesn’t care and enjoys both. Wildlife encounters do not excite him, and he will confidently cross any river with you.
Crickett attended a branding last year and pulled out several calves with no issues at all. He has done cattle drives and multiple trail rides on all types of terrain.
Crickett has been to a Gymkhana with a 13-year-old girl. Even though it was his first outing in a different indoor arena, he was amazing. His rider had no issues taking him around and running beautiful barrel, pole, and stake patterns.
To top it off, Crickett has also been used for skijoring and never cared about skiers or toboggans behind him, or being by himself in the field.
Just to show how talented and truly versatile this horse is, he is not only a superstar in western disciplines, Crickett can jump!!! He is currently schooling 3′ fences with ease and has room to go higher. This horse is so much fun and will be hard to let go of. He truly is an all-around family horse with the mind to be ridden by beginner to intermediate riders, while also having the ability to perform with an advanced rider. He will check cows and work on the ranch, yet your show-jumping-loving daughter can take him around jump courses and look fantastic doing it.
Crickett has been used in a busy lesson program for the last year and has been ridden by all sorts of riders, from intermediate kids and adults to advanced riders. He can be pulled straight out of the pasture without issues and is not herd-bound at all. He sits lower in the pecking order and is a very gentle citizen. He is super easy to catch (he loves attention and coming in for work), trailers well, and has been hauled lots. He stands well for the farrier and has been hot-shod.
Here is a horse the whole family can enjoy. A horse that steals hearts, draws attention, and stands out wherever you go!
Crickett has never been lame. He does seem to be slightly sensitive to hay dust, which can be easily managed by feeding through a hay net, haylage, or hay cubes. He will come with a full PPE, including 20 X-ray views, to provide full transparency and confidence when purchasing a healthy horse.
Stay tuned for his full sales video coming soon!
Crickett is located just north of Bentley, AB, at McKendrick Stable.
