“Maximus”
A 7 year old registered palomino gelding, sired by JT Tallymine Doc. A sire producing top end futurity and rodeo horses.
I purchased max from the diamond k sale as a weanling, where he was a featured colt in the sale, his ad taking up an entire page. Since then, max has been a wonderful addition to the family. Every stage of training came easy to this horse, and he quickly became my main using horse on the ranch as well as helping me in my colt starting program. This horse has done everything from flagging colts, ponying, dragging lots of calves at branding, sorting , working gates while sorting, turning back in herd work during shows and practices, lots of pulling the kids in sleds, and recently being the horse my daughter and her friends (with less experience) can bomb around on. Max seems to transition well to the ability of his rider , while maintaining a work ethic. In addition to these jobs, we run cattle in the hills, so he’s accustomed to bush, hills and crossing rivers and creeks. I’ve also patterned him lightly on barrels , just for fun. Max changes leads easily, is soft in the bridle and very light off leg pressure. Max is a very smooth horse to ride, making it easy to sit his trot for longer days. He also has zero herd bound issues, great tied to the trailer or in the barn alone. He has good black feet that haven’t required shoes, and I seem to not have to trim him very often as he wears them down correctly without flaring. UTD on everything. This horse is a people horse, always has been. He’ll make an excellent addition to any ranch or family as he’s very versatile.
