FLYIN POWDER DODGE

Meet Dodge – the ultimate all-around gelding. This flashy 2009 AQHA gelding goes back to the champion cutting horse bloodlines of Peppy San Badger and Doc O’Lena on his sire’s side, and the hall of fame racehorse bloodline of Sugar Bars on his dam’s side. Standing tall at 15.3 hands, Dodge’s long stride will get you where you need to go with speed and efficiency. With a resume a mile long, this guy is ready to be your next ol’ reliable.

Started as a rope horse, Dodge has been headed and breakaway roped on, and has been used to check, move and sort cattle. Ride him out on a loose rein out in the pasture or down the highway, he’s also safe to hop on bareback and go for a stroll. He has made countless miles through the meadows and mountains of the Yaha Tinda, crossing streams and rivers, bushwhacking through the forest, and navigating rough terrain with ease. This pretty palomino has been a flag horse on the Ladies of the Heartland drill team, packing flags for grand entry patterns, sponsorship laps, and parades. He has also run sponsorship laps at the Czar Lake Bullarama, as well as packed flags for grand entry at junior high school rodeos. In recent years this rockstar gelding has shifted careers into being a solid 2D/3D barrel horse. Dodge is fine with time off but works his best when exercised consistently and conditioned like the athlete that he is. He has run at dozens of arenas around the province, indoor and outdoor, rain or shine, and has won multiple buckles, many prizes, and thousands of dollars. Dodge has been borrowed for barrel racing at both junior high school and college levels. This strong, steady gelding has also been a go to for halter breaking and ponying colts. He’s safe around kids, dogs, donkeys, farm equipment, traffic, and everything in between, including that one neighbour that likes to buzz the yard with his plane.

Handsome, well-mannered and nice to be around on the ground, he’s gentle enough to take treats from a toddler, without taking any fingers off, he prefers fuzzy peaches or marshmallow bananas. This guy has a big, goofy personality and will keep you endlessly entertained. Dodge usually leads the herd in when called and is first to the gate. He will stand tied all day, and stands well to bathe, brush, braid, massage, shoe, saddle, and bridle. Self-loads in a stock trailer or slant load, and hauls alone or in a packed trailer no problem. Has been to lots of overnight barrel races and mountain trips, and is fine to stall, be penned or tied at the trailer, or high-lined, on his own or with a buddy. He’s healthy, sound, up to date on teeth, deworming and vaccinations, and currently requires no maintenance. He can go barefoot or with shoes, currently has shoes. He has one scar on his left hind leg, he acquired it with a previous owner, it has been checked by the vet numerous times and has never bothered him one bit, just one minor blemish on an otherwise amazing horse. Dodge will sell with an updated soundness exam closer to sale day.

This big guy is still in his prime and has a ton of go in him, so would not be suitable for a beginner or inexperienced rider. He loves to have a job, use him on the ranch to work cows and then load him up and haul him to the local jackpot, he’ll work all day and work well. He would also be a good fit for a confident youth looking for a step-up rodeo mount. Dodge is always willing to do any job you ask of him and will look good doing it.
