Looking for a kind, quiet, broke, well exposed young mare you can take any direction?
Lulu is a 2022 AQHA mare, standing a solid 14.3 hands, with good bone, black solid feet all the way around, a correct build, a good set of papers (with names such as Nu Chex to cash, Shinning spark and Profits increase, a neat blend of cow, running and performance breeding) and a fantastic mind all wrapped up in a pretty golden package.
Lulu is broke to ride, she’s currently my main mount. and is getting lots of miles and refining under her belt.
She’s got all the buttons, good hip/shoulder/rib control, picks her leads up from a walk, started lead changes, great stop, started one hand, and rides around balanced with good speed control. She rides through the seat and off the legs well, she’s light, responsive and soft mouthed.
She is a quiet, solid minded mare that can handle a lot. Toss tarps, ropes, flags, and obstacles at her with no worries.
Shoot a gun by her, crack a whip off her or walk her through fire, she puts up with crazy (not by any means a dead head though).
She is started on barrels and is showing potential and the desire to excel in the barrel pen. She is going to have a few jackpots under her belt by sale day. I could see her being a lot of fun to haul and run .
She has had many outside miles, trail rides well, stays quiet and relaxed (even with other horses running past her, or trucks going by) rides alone or in a group the same, leads or follows, rides through bush, over logs/obstacles, walks through creek crossings without worry, she is steady and sure footed in different terrain.
She is set up and ready for ranch work, she has been used over the winter to start colts under saddle, open gates, used as transportation for coyote hunting, checking the cows (she’s cowy) and pulling kids around in sleds. Her good mind and willingness to work with you make it easy to get the job done.
She is being hauled to other arenas for clinics, gymkhanas and exposure, she’s the same horse hauling out as she is at home, or goes back to work after time off the same mare, she’s got no funny business.
Lulu is safe on the ground, she is very easy to catch (typically walks up to you) baths, ties/ground ties, loads/unloads, lunges, tacks up easy, is good with her feet, and easy to mount.
Personality wise, she is kind, easy going, friendly, loves people, but is athletic, gritty and moves out nice enough to perform and work.
She could go many directions, from ranch work, roping, barrel racing, trail riding, to a family/show/gymkhana home.
She would make a great youth or ladies mount. I’d suggest an intermediate and up rider for her, but she’d be fine having a beginner or kid tossed on her from time to time.
She is sound, and kept up to date on farrier, body work, vaccines, teeth and deworming, as well as a current coggins. No maintenance, vices or quirks. She’s a fantastic young mare with a really solid foundation and lots of miles under her belt already. She has become a favourite of mine, and will make someone really happy.
