Description
Need a gentle, easy going and fun first pony for the kids?
Meet Pete, a 2022 grade paint pony gelding. He stands 10.1 hands, has good bone and feet, put together solid and correct.
Pete is the pony that every kid wants, he’s very flashy, well trained, the born broke type, and is cute and friendly.
He’s broke to ride, and well started driving (single cart).
He is safe, sane, super quiet, kind, very friendly and loves kids.
Pete rides around well, has good steering and a good stop/back up. He rides alone or with others the same. He has had outside miles, rode in different arenas and down the trails. He is good through bush, over logs/obstacles, good with tarps, flags, hola hoops, ropes, dragging things and more. He has been drove all over with the cart, as well as rode and pulled the kids around with the sled.
Pete is great on the ground, he is very easy to catch (if he’s not already at the gate when you get there, he’s on his way to meet you and put his head in the halter, every and any day). He is good with his feet, tacks/harnesses up easy, lunges, ties, baths and loads/unloads well. He has also been taught to lay down on command .
Pete is safe, willing and more on the pokey/slow side of life, he’s not a dead head (is curious and smart) but doesn’t like wasting his energy being bratty, he’s a chill and happy little dude.
He is kept up to date on farrier, teeth, deworming and vaccines. As well as a current coggins.
No injuries, founder, or soundness issues.
He lives outside 24/7 with the other ponies and gets along well with everyone.
We would consider him beginner and kid safe. Our 7 year old sister has done a lot of the work on him, he is safe for her to catch, tie, brush, tack up, and ride all over with no help from us (she sometimes just hops on him bareback in a halter). He is safe for our 3 year old sister as well as visiting friends kids that get tossed on him, he is definitely a favourite around here.
Whether you have a young cowboy needing his first little ranch pony, or a small cowgirl wanting her unicorn, he’ll make a great best friend for the lucky kid(s) that get him.
